Broad, funnel shaped flowers open a soft mauve-pink and fade to white at edges with a ray of reddish-brown spots. Both foliage and flowers compete for best in show. Leucocarpa Heavenly Bamboo

Nandina domestica Leucocarpa

It’s not often that a common evergreen shrub like Nandina gets revitalized with a new variety. This one made our horticulturists go WOW! Leucocarpa is an evergreen, upright shrub with bright green foliage during the year (as compared to most Nandinas that have green, orange, yellow & red foliage). Pannicles of white flowers appear in spring and are followed by cream coloured berries in fall. Grows 3-4ft in height and slightly larger spread. Hardy to zone 6.

curly red leucothoe

Leucothoe ‘Curly Red’

This special Leucothoe is an evergreen shrub with curling leaves in colours throughout the seasons. During Autumn, leaves are red and in early winter they become purple. As the plant is very hardy, the tick leathery leaves keep their color during the winter. ‘Curly Red’ is a good cover for shady banks and looks great in mass plantings. It is well suited as an undergrowth plant and mixes well with green foliage shrubs. A fantastic woody subject for mixed containers too! This plant prefers part shade but will tolerate full sun if kept moist. Soil should be moist, acidic and well drained. Stays short – grows to only 16 inches tall and about 18 inches wide. Hardy to zone 6-7

Prune to shape and fertilize after spring bloom. Grows 3-4ft tall and up to 3ft wide.
