How To Grow Chinese Money Plant

Pilea peperomiodes

Originally from Yunnan Province in Southern China. Bright green coin or pancake like leaves provide a great accent for the home.

LIGHT

This plant thrives in bright indirect , but can more shade as well. Direct sunlight may cause leaf scorch. Light shade may encourage larger leaves.

WATER

Water every 2-3 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out between watering.  Increase watering when in brighter light. Normal room humidity should be sufficient. Brunt or crisp edges indicate dryness.

SOIL

Use a well drained potting soil like our Pro-Mix Tropical blend.

CARE

Rotate it regularly to keep it nicely shaped. It has a tendency to grow towards the sunlight. Keep this plant warm and in bright light year-round. Its best not to let the temperature around this plant go below 50F/10C.  Spider mites and mealy bugs are a common pest on this plant. Treat with insecticidal soap. Yellowing or black, mushy stems may indicate over-watering.
