How Do I Calculate the Volume of Water In My Pond?

You can calculate the volume of water in your pond using the following formulas:

Rectangular Water Features:

length x width x depth x 7.5 = Gallons

Circular Water Features:

diameter x diameter x 5.9 = Gallons

Oval

length x width x depth x 6.7  = Gallons

These formulas are important when choosing a water pump. For best pond health, your pump should move the entire volume of your pond in one hour. For example, a 900 Gallon pond or water feature should have at least a 900 GPH pump.
