How To Grow Fiddle Leaf Fig
Ficus lyrata
This West African native is one of the most popular houseplants. Its large size and enormous violin-shaped leaves make it an excellent specimen in a home with high ceilings.
LIGHT
Prefers bright indirect light year-round. Turn occasionally to expose all sides to light. Like other Ficus house plants, its leaves will drop if suddenly moved into low light.
WATER
This plant loves to be misted as well as watered. Keep soil evenly moist. Brown leaf tips can be caused by dry soil. Dropping yellow leaves can indicate over-watering. Average humidity, 40-50% is recommended.
SOIL
A good indoor potting mix like our Pro-Mix soil will give good growing results.
CARE
Prune off tops to promote branching and control growth. Repot only when necessary. Smaller pots can control growth rate. Leaf drop is common when the plant is moved or environmental conditions change. Can be affected by scale and spider mites. Feed in Spring, Summer and Fall with a 1/2 strength liquid feed.
