How To Grow Spider Plant
Chlorophytym comosum
A beautiful easy care houseplant from the South Pacific and South Africa. Ideal for beginners. Slender arching leaves are green with white stripes. Its trailing foliage looks great in hanging baskets or on pedestals. One of the best plants for improving air quality.
LIGHT
Give Spider Plants bright, indirect light to maintain the leaf colour Keep plant out of direct sunlight because it can scorch leaves.
WATER
Keep the soil evenly moist. Brown plant tips are caused by flouride in water. Use distilled water or let tap water sit overnight before use. Prefers moderate indoor humidity. Crispy leaves can indicate low.
SOIL
A peat moss based potting mix is best. African violet soil is a good start. Prefers to be slightly root bound and will perform best in slightly smaller containers.
CARE
Small white flowers appear on wiry stems. These soon create spidery looking plantlets that can be propagated. Fertilize every 2 weeks in Summer with a liquid fertilizer at half strength. Keep temperatures between 18-24C for optimal health. Does not like temperatures below 10C.
