Early season Pear with yellow finish, very little russet - medium size, crisp, juicy, and of high quality. Tree ripening is best. Excellent storage life. Self-fertile, but more productive with a pollinator.
Plant Asian pear trees in full sun, in an area sheltered from cold winds and away from low-lying frost pockets. Soil should be neutral to slightly acidic, moist, and well drained. Asian pears are partially self-fertile and will produce some fruit without cross pollination. However, you will receive a larger crop if additional Asian pear trees are nearby. Asian pears and European pears will pollinate each other if they flower at the same time. Thinning (removing excess fruit in late spring) is a good practice as it improves the quality of the remaining fruit. Asian pears can be picked and eaten straight from the tree once ripe. Storage is not required. Prune Asian pear trees in winter when they are dormant. . Protect your pear tree from over wintering insects by applying a dormant oil-lime sulphur spray in the dormant season. Apply a fruit tree and berry food in the early spring before growth starts.
